Top of the world

I decided that 2018 would be my year of reinvention. Having said that, one of the many things that I have set out for myself is to tidy up the warzone in my living room. With 3 kids under the age of 7 and my preoccupation as a full-time working mum then, it is no wonder that the disastrous state of affairs at home never really had a chance to get sorted out.

And yet a home has got to be more! This is a safe haven of sorts, an abode to do as your bidding and should really be a reflection of who you are on the inside. I got rid of furniture that no longer worked for the family like this Peranakan screen/divider and an entryway bench, both made from solid teakwood, within a week on Carousell.

Good stuff all up for grabs, really. 😊

I was even more pleased with my treasure find of a vintage-looking world map as shown above. This map exudes loads of charm and character, and is a great item to frame up on the wall or slot under a glass top coffee table. I love the latter idea though unfortunately, my coffee table is non-existent πŸ˜†. I also imagine that this would work well in the study or office. How versatile is that! From an aesthetic, art-appreciating point of view, this is clearly a great product priced low but looks nothing like it!

Also, what I appreciate about this product is that it is made from kraft paper. Kraft paper has high tensile strength and is typically well-suited for packaging products due to its strength and durability as compared to other forms of paper. More importantly, because kraft paper is made from natural ingredients like wood pulp, it is a biodegradable product that is 100% recyclable. Honestly, it feels good that in our pursuit of consumerism, we get an aesthestic treat and still do justice to planet Earth at the same time. Retail therapy has clearly upped a notch and I’m riding on a high. 😁

P.S.: If you are keen on getting a similar vintage world map, I’m more than glad to help out here!

Let’s he-ack it!
